Level 2 Award in Manual Handling Risk Assessment (QCF)


Qualification Purpose
The Level 2 Award in Manual Handling Risk Assessment provides learners with knowledge and understanding of manual handling risk assessment and the skills that are required to carry out an appropriate risk assessment. The unit specification is based on the Health and Safety Executive’s guidance to the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, which require employers to assess any hazardous manual handling tasks that cannot be avoided and reduce the risk of injury, so far as is reasonably practicable.

The content of the Level 2 Award in Manual Handling Risk Assessment has been mapped to Units HSS1 and HSS6 of the National Occupational Standards for Health and Safety.
The objectives of the qualification include: preparing learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding, preparing learners to progress to a qualification in another subject area and supporting a role in the workplace.

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
Learners must be at least 16+ years of age at certification.
