Emergency First Aid at Work for Schools

The one day Emergency First Aid at Work for Schools course meets the requirements set by the Health & Safety Executive and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1981. Delegates will learn emergency first aid only and the course is designed to give confidence to those working within a school environment in the event of an emergency.

The course is recommended by the Health and Safety Executive for low hazard environments where you are required to have a first aider on site. It covers the standard topics of an HSE regulated 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course; Understand the role of the first-aider, including reference to:

• The importance of preventing cross-infection;

• The need for recording incidents and actions;

• Use of available equipment;

• Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;

• Unconscious casualty (including seizure);

• CPR;

• Choking;

• Wounds and bleeding;

• Shock;

• Asthma;

• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
