Evacuation Chair Training
The Fire Evacuation Chair Course is designed to provide the necessary training to comply with both the Fire Safety Order, Disabled Discrimination Act 2005 and Equality Act 2010. An Evacuation Chair assists in the emergency evacuation of mobility restricted employees and visitor on site by using safe and correct handling techniques.
The Fire Evacuation Chair Training course will instruct staff how to correctly and confidently use the evacuation chair in the event of an emergency.
Candidates will receive training in a range of areas, including:
A safety check of your chair
A brief history of Evacuation Chairs
All related health & safety information
Personal Emergency Evacuation Procedure (PEEPS)
A theory session on general usage
A brief explanation of maintenance and service requirements for the chair
Ongoing assessment throughout the course
Practical Session’s include a demonstration of set up and usage of the chair in the safety of the classroom. Delegates will then move to the stairs where they will undertake both roles of mobility restricted user and chair operator, all under the supervision of the trainer
Successful candidates will be awarded a A4 certificate or plastic credit size certificate awarded by ourselves.
Course Duration: 2 – 2.5 hours
Certificates are valid for three years, however annual half day refresher training is recommended to update skills.
